The Feldenkrais Method® is a form of somatic education that uses gentle movement and directed attention to improve movement and enhance human functioning.

Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons are easy to do gentle exercises where you are verbally led through movement sequences, each organized around the improvement of a different aspect of human movement and functioning. These mindful movement sequences may appear very simple and yet they enhance learning. By tending to yourself and your comfort, while letting go of ambition and embracing a non judgmental approach, one is often astounded to discover at the end of a lesson improved balance, ease of movement, and a feeling of being wonderfully relaxed with a sense of presence in your body and yourself.

The Feldenkrais Method is based on principles of physics, biomechanics and an empirical understanding of learning and human development. By expanding the self-image through mindful movement sequences that bring attention to the parts of the self that are out of awareness, the Method enables you to include more of yourself in your functioning movements. Students become more aware of their habitual neuromuscular patterns and are able to expand options for new ways of moving. By increasing sensitivity and your sensori-motor capacity, the Feldenkrais Method assists you to live your life more fully, efficiently and comfortably.

This class helps with strengthening, toning and ease of movement. With Feldenkrais® adapted to the water as well as Pilates, we focus on building a stronger core by moving from the inside to the outside. Inspired by Feldenkrais, Dorothy will guide you to strengthen smartly, improve posture and learn to move more easily.
