Seat, Legs, Hands!Ā  FeldenkraisĀ® Workshop for Riders

In standing, your nervous system receives information through your feet in order to organize your whole body for function, such as standing, walking, running or dancing.Ā  When you are seated on your horse, your seat takes over much of this job, receiving information about the ground through your horse, as well as information about the movement of your horse in relation to the ground.Ā  You and your horse become one functioning being, integrating all movement, emotions, and decisions.Ā  Then your seat transfers this information through to your legs and hands.

In this horseless workshop, you will discover the grand central of the independent seat and how it communicates the force of the ground and your horse through your hands and legs.Ā  We will also explore the legs role in receiving information–how to help your legs be receptive to sensing your horse, the ground, and movement.Ā  The hands will become a natural extension of your seat and spine communicating your intent with ease.

Through gentle mindful movement exercises based on the Feldenkrais Method, this workshop will help you discover your own sensitivity to aid your balance and sensitivity with your horse.Ā  Come discover tools to help you and your horse be as oneā€¦ one integrated nervous system, emotional being, and fluid mover through space!

Fortunately because the knees have a reciprocal relationship with the ankles and hips, working in synergy with these joints can help the knees too!
In this workshop we will explore through gentle, mindful, and attention guided movement how to improve the function, comfort and mobility of our knees.
Come join us and discover that you too can find your beeā€™s knees!

Pelvic Floor Workshop (for women)

A group of muscles called the pelvic floor are important in many life functions, such as digestion, elimination, reproduction, horseback riding, breathing and balance.Ā  This means it also plays an important role in walking, dancing, horseback riding, and even getting up from a chair!Ā  So even if you donā€™t have a special issue related to the pelvic floor, understanding its role and encouraging its healthy function can contribute to your well-being in all these areas.

Working with the muscles of the pelvic floor can improve its function. The movements of the pelvic floor are subtle, and the Feldenkrais MethodĀ®Ā has been shown to be very effective in helping women increase awareness and finally strength of the pelvic floor. This two day afternoon workshop is for every woman, active or non-active, young or old. Having a well functioning and strong pelvic floor is part of taking care of yourselfā€¦ now and for your future.

Building Resilience Workshop

building resilience workshop louisville

DUE TO ITS POPULARITY, ADDED 2ND DATE FOR THIS WORKSHOP! NOVEMBER 23 (November 16 is full)

What is resilience?Ā  The ability to bounce back.Ā  Bounce back after a shock such as an accident, an illness, a loss, or just the capacity to cope with everyday situations.Ā  If we think of the brain as a garden, and if it is barren and dry, it could be easier for weeds to grow.Ā  If we cultivate rich soil and have many plantings, itā€™s a little harder for weeds to grow and we attract birds and other nature and it becomes more sustainable.Ā  So it is with our brain.

We can help develop resilience in the landscape of our brain through the gentle mindful movement of the Feldenkrais Method and with Havening Techniques. Havening is based in neuroscience and uses touch, attention and imagination to trigger electrochemical changes in the brain that alter how memories are processed and helps increase resilience. Havening Techniques complements Feldenkrais with its parallel foundations in neuroscience.

Join us as we learn to employ these effective tools to calm and balance the nervous system, with the gentle and profound lessons of Feldenkrais Awareness Through MovementĀ®, and Havening Techniques, where you will learn how it works and how to practice Self-Havening. Ā
