    Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement (ATM) lessons are easy to do gentle exercises where you are verbally led through movement sequences, each organized around the improvement of a different aspect of human movement and functioning.

    Weekly classes are about one hour and you often are lying on the floor, sometimes seated in a chair and occasionally standing. Each weekly class may be taken independently, you don't need to have been in other classes to join at any time! It is recommended you wear comfortable warm clothing.

    Please wear comfortable warm clothing and bring an EXERCISE MAT. (We have a few extras if you don't have one yet!)

    If you have trouble getting onto the floor, please contact Dorothy and we can make arrangements for you.

    Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons are easy to do gentle exercises where you are verbally led through movement sequences, each organized around the improvement of a different aspect of human movement and functioning. These mindful movement sequences may appear very simple and yet they enhance learning. By tending to yourself and your comfort, while letting go of ambition and embracing a non judgmental approach, one is often astounded to discover at the end of a lesson improved balance, ease of movement, and a feeling of being wonderfully relaxed with a sense of presence in your body and yourself.

    The Feldenkrais Method is based on principles of physics, biomechanics and an empirical understanding of learning and human development. By expanding the self-image through mindful movement sequences that bring attention to the parts of the self that are out of awareness, the Method enables you to include more of yourself in your functioning movements. Students become more aware of their habitual neuromuscular patterns and are able to expand options for new ways of moving. By increasing sensitivity and your sensori-motor capacity, the Feldenkrais Method assists you to live your life more fully, efficiently and comfortably.

    Mats are available on site.
